Vera Vehring

Vera Vehring (* 1944 in Höhr-Grenzhausen ) is a German ceramist . She lives and works in Syke - Henstedt ( Lower Saxony ).

Life

Vehring comes from a family in Höhr-Grenzhausen that has been committed to ceramics for 400 years. From 1966 to 1969 she completed an apprenticeship in ceramics in Höhr-Grenzhausen, the stronghold of ceramics. From 1969 to 1972 he studied at the State College for Ceramic Design in Höhr-Grenzhausen and from 1972 to 1977 he studied at the University of Fine Arts in Kassel with Walter Popp . Since 1974 she has had a studio together with Fritz Vehring in Syke.

Vehring's ceramic works can be found in museums and public collections in Germany (Ceramic Museum Berlin, Focke Museum Bremen, Veste Coburg collections, Museum of Arts and Crafts Frankfurt, Kestner Museum Hanover, Museum of Applied Arts Cologne) and in the Netherlands ( Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam).

Vera Vehring received several prizes and took part in international ceramic symposia:

  • 1978 Award of the State of Lower Saxony
  • 1981 Appointment as a member of the Académie Internationale de la Céramique in Geneva
  • 1983 Award for arts and crafts, Bremen
  • Member of the "Group '83"
  • 1988 State Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg for European Arts and Crafts, Stuttgart
  • 1998 Culture Prize from the district of Diepholz
