Geographical location

Since it was incorporated by the city of Syke in 1974, the previously independent municipality of Henstedt, which also includes Halbetzen, Gut and Kolonie Hoope and Nienstedt, has been a district of the city of Syke. Together with the Syker districts of Heiligenfelde , Wachendorf and Jardinghausen , a southern Syker area is formed. In terms of population, Henstedt is in 8th place within the 13 Syker districts and in 6th place in terms of area (9.98 km²; for comparison: Syke = 17.24 km²). Good transport links via the B 6 and new development areas can further promote this development.

It was founded by Waltraut Köhler, who was born in Henstedt, and is headed by her. The structural change in the village of Henstedt from 1867 to the present is documented. A WWII bunker built to protect the villagers can also be viewed.
