Henstedt Village Museum

The Henstedter Dorfmuseum is a local museum in Syke- Henstedt in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony , which is privately owned.

It was founded by Waltraut Köhler, who exhibited privately collected museum items from Henstedt and the surrounding area in their own rooms. In the meantime, the "Village Museum - Henstedt as it used to be" is known far beyond the small Syker district.

The village museum is located south of the Henstedt town center on the road to Bassum - Neubruchhausen .

The focus of the exhibition is spread over 175 m² of exhibition space in a former stable building: old farm equipment and objects from agriculture, housekeeping, from Henstedt's school history and from the lives of children in earlier times. The structural change in the village of Henstedt from 1867 to the present is documented. A bunker from the Second World War can also be visited.

Thorsten Köhler acts as the museum director on a voluntary basis. Waltraut Köhler, the founder of the museum, wrote several writings that make the museum collections accessible.
