history
Found stone axes and urns as well as a Bronze Age barrow (the Holy Mountain) indicate settlement in prehistoric times.
Heiligenloh was first mentioned in a document in 1252 as the bailiwick of the Bishop of Minden.
On March 1, 1974, the unified municipality of Twistringen was established. Heiligenloh became - together with Abbenhausen, Altenmarhorst , Mörsen, Natenstedt, Rüssen , Scharrendorf, Stelle and Twistringen - one of eight localities in this new unified community.

Ridderade Village Museum
In May 2002 a village museum was opened in Ridderade. Objects from the Stone Age (tools) through the Bronze Age (urn shards) to the more recent present (agricultural and domestic tools, photos and maps by Ridderade and Stophel) are shown on an area of 130 m². The museum is open from May to October on the 2nd Sunday of the month (3 to 6 p.m.).
Petit Musée
The Petit Musée ( German Small Museum ) is an art museum in the Bissenhausen district. The museum opened in 2011 and, with a floor space of around two square meters, is one of the smallest art museums in the world. It was created by the artist Jochen Tiemann alias "Bafuß". Changing exhibitions by various artists are shown. During the Advent season, the “Art Christmas Market 'Petit Marché” ( small market in German ) is held at and in the museum .
traffic
Heiligenloh is far away from heavy traffic. This increases the quality of living, especially since the distances to the next federal road and the next train station are not significant.
Street
Heiligenloh is 2.5 km north of the B 51 , which ensures the connection to the north ( Bremen ) and south ( Osnabrück ). Two district roads - the K 101 and the K 102 - cut through Heiligenloh. They lead directly to the neighboring towns of Natenstedt, Drentwede and Borwede. The road sections have names in the place; in detail these are:
- the "main road" (= northern part of the K 101); it leads in a north-westerly direction to Natenstedt
- the "main road" (= southern part of the K 101); it leads in a south-easterly direction to Rustingen, to the B 51 and on to Drentwede
- the "Hermannstrasse" (= eastern part of the K 102); it leads east to Ellinghausen, to the B 51 and on to Borwede.
Names of the 17 Heiligenloher Streets (in alphabetical order): Alte Dorfstraße, Am Hang, Am Kiekbusch, Am Pfarrgarten, An der Henckemühle, Bockstedter Straße, Gartenstraße, Hauptstraße, Hermannstraße, Mühlendamm, Oderstraße, Parkstraße, Poststraße, Schulstraße, Vor dem Fang, Before Harms Holt, Zum Heiligenberg.
In contrast, in the smaller districts of Heiligenloh - Bissenhausen, Borwede, Ellinghausen, Ridderade and Stophel - there are no street names, only house numbers .
Rail transport
The nearest train station is the Twistringen train station in a north-easterly direction on the Bremen - Osnabrück line. It is about 7 km from Heiligenloh.
