The Museum im Schlossturm is a privately owned regional museum in the district town of Diepholz ( Diepholz district , Lower Saxony ).

Location of the museum

In the tower of Diepholz Castle , the top floor of which can be reached via 133 steps, there is a view of the city and its surroundings, the Heimatverein Diepholz e. V. set up a small museum. The museum is open on the 1st Saturday of each month from April to October.

Scope of collection

Views of Diepholz, artefacts from the work history, such as tools and implements from various trades, as well as guild and club flags from the 19th century are shown on seven floors . The work topic also includes exhibits on moors and peat cutting . Another focus is the coinage. The museum also offers exhibits about the Diepholz goose , an official herdbook breed , and the use of its plumage to make bed and quill pens . In addition, the house offers exhibits on the Royal Preparation Institute and on the noble families of Diepholz. An unusual exhibit is a treasure chest from the 17th century, which is framed by other exhibits from this period.
