Aschen local history museum
The Aschen local history museum is a regional and open-air museum in the Aschen district of the town of Diepholz in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony . It documents historical rural everyday life. The local history museum is maintained and looked after by the Aschen local history association.
Numerous historical and rebuilt historic buildings are shown m² on the museum grounds with an area of 8,000: a memory from 1741, a stone oven , an apiary , a draw-well , a gin house , a village smithy from the 18th century, a carpentry workshop from from 1893, a shed for machines, a sheepfold from 1791, a wagon shed , a hirer's house and a barn from the 18th century, a village school . In and outside of the building, large-scale agricultural equipment , furniture, tools, household items and workshops are presented. There are also exhibition rooms in the outbuilding of the old village school.
The site of the local history museum has been used once a year for a classic car meeting since 1997 .
In 2020, a half-timbered building with a floor area of 13 by 16 m will be erected on the site of the local history museum. On two floors, exhibits from life and agriculture in earlier times will be presented in a museum-friendly and informative manner. 73 percent of the costs were financed by the village development program for the Diepholz districts of Aschen, Heede and Sankt Hülfe. The Anna-und-Heinz-von-Döllen-Stiftung is also supporting the new hall. The foundation has become known through the touristic valorization of the historically significant sites Arkeburg and Bredemeyers Hof in Goldenstedt in the neighboring district of Vechta .
