Abbenhausen is a district of the town of Twistringen in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz . About 738 people live in the village.

Abbenhausen is located in the north-eastern part of the city of Twistringen, 2.5 km north of the core town of Twistringen. Binghausen, Brümsen, Köbbinghausen, Lessenah, Poggenmühle and Üssinghausen also belong to Abbenhausen.

Since the regional reform , which came into force on March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Abbenhausen has been one of eight localities in the city of Twistringen.

Abbenhausen is far away from major traffic. The federal motorway 1 runs 15 km to the northwest. The federal road 51 leading from Bassum via Twistringen (Kernort) and Diepholz to Osnabrück and the state road L 342 from Twistringen (Kernort) via Goldenstedt to Vechta run south-east, each 2.5 km away.
In Abbenhausen, Binghausen, Brümsen, Köbbinghausen and Poggemühle - in contrast to the smaller districts of Lessenah and Üssinghausen - there are street names and not just house numbers , so that residents, mail deliverers, suppliers and visitors can find their way there. In Üssinghausen (seven houses) and Lessenah (single farmstead) street names are not necessary.
