Ion Buzea

Ion Buzea (born August 14, 1934 in Cluj ) is a Romanian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

After graduating from high school, he studied geology and mining. At the same time he began to train his voice with Lya Popp in Cluj and later with Luigi Ricci in Rome.

He made his debut at the Cluj Opera in 1958 as Alfredo in La traviata . Shortly afterwards he won the George Enescu singing competition and moved to the Opera Națională Bucureşti . The path soon led him to the Vienna State Opera and on to all the major opera houses in the world.

The focus of his large stage repertoire was heroic roles from the Italian, French, German and Slavic repertoire. He also devoted himself to extensive concert activities.

Numerous recordings were made, as well as film and television appearances.
