Ion Dissonance is an extreme metal band from Montréal , Québec , Canada .

history

Antoine Lussier and Sebastien Chaput founded the band Ion Dissonance towards the end of summer 2001. The music of this band should be more complex and more experimental than what the two had done before. Shortly after the formation, JF Richard joined the band, and this was eventually completed by Gabriel McCaughry (vocals) and Sebastien Painchaud (bass). The demo CD .357 , which is no longer available, was recorded with this line-up. After the positive reactions to this CD, the band was able to obtain a contract with the record label Willowtip Records (in Europe: Cacophonous Records). Then there was the first line-up change: Miguel Valade came on for Sebastien Painchaud on bass. With this line-up, the band supported appearances for The Dillinger Escape Plan , Every Time I Die , Daughters , Misery Index , The End and The Black Dahlia Murder .

In April 2003 the recordings for the first LP Breathing Is Irrelevant began. This was completed in June 2003 and published in October 2003.

In 2004 they embarked on a major tour with Forever Is Forgotten along the US west coast. The concerts in Canada were played together with the group The End . After the last appearance at the Maryland Deathfest there was another line-up change on bass: Xavier St-Laurent came on for Miguel Valade.

After the release of the Solace album , Ion Dissonance toured Canada and the United States again. On June 20, 2006, Gabriel McCaughry announced his departure from the band due to personal and musical differences. In October 2006 the band found a new singer in Kevin McCaughey.

In 2007 the album Minus the Herd was released, in 2010 the album Cursed was released .
