Career

Ion Neacşu started playing football in his hometown of Ploieşti . At the age of 18 he first moved to Rafinăria 7 Brazi before he landed at CCA Bucharest (later Steaua Bucharest ) in 1950 . Before the 1954 season Neacşu received the opportunity to the leading club in the region to switch to Flacăra Ploieşti (later Petrolul Ploieşti ). It was there that he experienced his most successful period. In addition to two championships in 1958 and 1959 , he was able to take part in the European Cup. There he and his team overtook him in the first round.

After he was hardly used, Neacşu left the club in 1962 and moved to local rival Prahova Ploieşti in Divizia B. There he ended his career in 1967.

National team
