Ionel Rapaport

Ionel Florian Rapaport (born March 30, 1909 in Buzău , Romania , † 1972 in Wisconsin ) was a Romanian doctor for endocrinology and psychopathology .

Life

He grew up in a Romanian-Jewish family and studied medicine in Romania. During the Second World War he came to Paris , where he continued his studies with Charles Blondel . He wrote his doctoral thesis on ritual castration . In 1953 he emigrated to the USA and went to the University of Wisconsin . His most famous work is his introduction to the collective psychopathology of the mystical sect of Skopzen .

The New York filmmaker Pola Rapaport is his daughter from his second marriage to an American.

Rapaport died in 1972 of a cancer .
