Ippei Kojima
Ippei Kojima ( Japanese 小島 一 平 , Kojima Ippei ; * 1944 in the Kyoto prefecture ) is a former badminton player from Japan .
Career
Kojima is one of the most important Japanese badminton players of the 1960s and 1970s . From 1967 to 1976 he played for his country in the Thomas Cup .
In 1966 he won a national championship for the first time. Eight more singles and three doubles with Masao Akiyama followed by 1975. Internationally, he was the only Japanese to win the Denmark Open singles in the 1969/1970 season . At the All England 1970 he was third. In the same year he won two bronze medals in the men's singles and mixed with Etsuko Takenaka at the Asian Badminton Games. At the 1972 Olympics, where badminton was played as a demonstration sport , he was eliminated in doubles with Suresh Goel in the first round.
