Irena Vrkljan
Irena Vrkljan (born August 21, 1930 in Belgrade ) is a Croatian-German writer and translator.
Irena Vrkljan grew up in Zagreb . In the 1950s she made numerous publications in the former Yugoslavia . She also worked for television. In 1966 she began her studies at the West Berlin film school . She has lived as a freelance writer in Berlin and Zagreb since the late 1960s. She was married to the Berlin writer Benno Meyer-Wehlack (1928–2014).
In Croatia Irena Vrkljan received several literary prizes. Her German-language works are published by the Droschl literary publisher and she is a member of the New Society for Literature .
In 1979 she worked as an actress with the role of Mrs. Singer in the film drama David , but it was her only film appearance.
