Irene Goß

Irene Goß (born May 25, 1928 in Teplitz-Schönau , Czechoslovakia ; † April 21, 2015 in Winningen ) was a German singer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Goß attended elementary school and secondary school. She then completed a vocal course with a degree in coloratura soprano and a commercial apprenticeship. From 1947 to 1956 she worked as a singer, from 1957 to 1978 as a secretary and housewife.

politics

In 1963 she became a member of the SPD and was chairwoman of the local SPD association in Winningen. She was district chairwoman and deputy subdistrict chairwoman or subdistrict chairwoman of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women. From 1974 she was a member of the Winningen municipal council and chairwoman of the parliamentary group there, from 1979 she was a member of the Mayen-Koblenz district council.

In 1979 she was elected to the ninth state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate , to which she belonged for two terms until 1987. In the state parliament she was a member of the committee for agriculture, viticulture and forestry and the cultural policy committee.

In addition, she was chairwoman of the artist group 72 and member of the board of the Volksbühne Koblenz.

In 1987 she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
