Irene Müller (born January 12, 1955 in Görlitz ; † June 15, 2016 ) was a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 1998 to 2002 and from 2006 to 2011 she was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . From June 2012 to 2016 she was a member of the party executive committee of the Left.

Life

Müller completed a teaching degree as a qualified teacher for biology and chemistry and then worked as a teacher in rehabilitation education . She was involved in the SED district leadership and in the PDS office . She was blind since 1986.

Before moving into the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, she was unemployed. Müller was non-denominational, married and had two children. Müller belonged to the district executive of the Left Party. She was parliamentary group leader of the Goldberg city ​​council for the party and was also a member of the district council. In addition, Müller was the spokesperson for the working group on self-determined disability policy . On October 26, 1998, she entered the state parliament for the first time, to which she was a member until October 21, 2002. After she was not represented in parliament for the next four years, she managed to return to the state parliament via the state list of the party Die Linke in the state elections in 2006. There she was spokeswoman for the Left Party for social, disability and senior citizens policy.
