Irene Molloy

Irene Molloy (born December 13, 1978 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress and singer .

Life

Irene Molloy was raised in Philadelphia, the oldest of five sisters. Her father is a computer consultant (computer analyst), her mother is a pediatric nurse (neo-natal nurse). She gained her first stage experience as a singer in churches and various theater productions. During her senior year in high school, she starred in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Whistle Down The Wind in Washington, DC Since the performance there wasn't successful, she didn't make it to Broadway. However, Molloy received the Outer Critics Circle Nomination for Outstanding Featured Actress for her role in the play . After graduating from high school, Molloy moved to New York City in 1996and tried to make a living with various waiter jobs. She went on to audition and eventually got a role in the Broadway play The Civil War . For this role she was nominated for the Helen Hayes Award . She also played the main role of Juliet in the musical Romeo and Juliet. Molloy moved to Hollywood around 1999, where she got her first major role in Starlets in 2000 . After the series was canceled, she starred in Die Welt and Andy Richter for some time . Today she mainly focuses on her music. An album called The Irene Molloy EP has already been released.

Molloy hikes, camps, travels, does yoga and writes her own songs. She currently lives in Los Angeles . She has Irish and Filipino roots.
