Irene Prugger

Irene Prugger (born February 15, 1959 in Hall in Tirol ) is an Austrian writer and journalist .

life and work

Irene Prugger has been a freelance writer since 1988. She works for magazines, cultural agencies, weekly newspapers and the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) . Between 1988 and 1997 she was co-editor of the Tyrolean literary magazine Inn . She lives in Mils near Hall .

In her fictional work, she takes care of the characters' ingrained role models, which, especially in the up-and-coming milieu, usually seem unintentionally funny if they don't find any fixed guidelines for their behavior. In Wasser für Franek, the mood of a new housing estate derails when the homeowners cannot cope with the status symbol of the pool.

In the novel Mitten im Weg , a woman tries to do everything right and, above all, to raise her daughter independently, which of course goes wrong because wrong role models are involved. In the stories about naked heroes , women try various means to conquer men, which leads to an uprising in the provincial milieu. "Why doesn't he try to seduce us? It would be so easy!" The heroines do not find a green branch with their strategies.
