Helmuth Schönauer (2013)

Helmuth Schönauer (born September 23, 1953 in Innsbruck ) is a writer and librarian at the University of Innsbruck .

life and work

In his novels he describes the everyday occurrences of bizarre marginal characters on the way up. As an almost complete reviewer of contemporary Tyrolean literature, he is a representative of the "low lectured edition". According to this thesis, a slight editing of fictional literature is sufficient, since it is only disseminated for a limited time and region anyway.

In the six-volume diary of a librarian , almost 5000 reviews from the years 1982–2018 are summarized in a continuous text that is arranged chronologically according to the publication of the reviewed books. This results in a contemporary historiography based on reading. In the alternation of canonized international literature and the first recording of regional literature, a reading image emerges that is fed from the center and the periphery. The respective registers are networked in library network systems so that the books discussed can easily be found individually.

In the anthology "One holds through", author colleagues, friends and companions of Helmuth Schönauer turn the tables and pay tribute to the polemicist and satirist, the critic and secret Germanist in an anti-festschrift. After lawsuits with the Republic of Austria that ended in acquittals, Helmuth Schönauer is a “judicially recognized writer”. He is a member of the Graz authors' assembly .
