timeline

Henrik Jürgens (* 1580), who was married to Catharina Fruchtnicht (* 1584), is considered to be the tribe. From this marriage came the two brothers Baron Joachim Irgens av Vestervig and Johannes Irgens (1613–1669), who were born under the name of Jürgens , but renamed him around 1640 in Irgens. The older brother Joachim was a merchant, mine owner, aristocrat, landowner in Itzehoe , doctor of medicine, pension clerk and mint master and one of the largest landowners in Denmark. Irgens was connected through his marriage to Cornelia Bicker (1629–1708), with the Amsterdam families of the Golden Century Bicker and De Graeff and with Jakob de Petersen , Truchsess of Denmark.

It is known about Johannes Irgens that he was also born in Itzehoe and obtained his doctorate in philosophy in 1635 in Padua . In 1651 he was appointed director of the mine in Røros by his brother . He was married to Elisabeth Sophie Henningsdatter Amisaeus, the daughter of King Christian IV's personal physician . The further sex of the Irgens descends from this marriage. The other Irgens were mainly based in Norway. They worked as scholars, pastors, teachers and entrepreneurs. During the 19th and 20th centuries, various family members were able to hold high political offices in the administration of Norway.
