Jakob de Petersen

Jakob, Count Palatine and Reichsbaron de Petersen (born September 26, 1622 in Rendsburg , † October 26, 1704 in Leusden ) was a Truchsess of Denmark, Chamberlain and politician. He carried the dignity of a Comes Palatinus , Lord of Engelenburg , Aschat and Heiligenberg.

Life

De Petersen's ancestors were based in Rendsburg, and he himself is considered the lord of the imperial barons De Petersen who emigrated to the Netherlands . Jakob de Petersen was Truchsess of Denmark , Chamberlain and Councilor of the Danish King Friedrich III. After internal political controversies with the influential statesman Christoffer von Gabel , he had to leave the country and was appointed his political agent in the Netherlands by the Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg in 1664 .

In 1669, Jakob de Petersen married Catharina Bicker (1642–1678), daughter of the knight Jacob Bicker (1612–1676) and Alida Bicker (a daughter of Andries Bicker ). Through his marriage relationship, he was also related to the Danish statesman Joachim Irgens av Vestervig . De Petersen and his wife had seven children, all of whom grew up in Utrecht. In 1676, Emperor Leopold I appointed him and his descendants to imperial barons . His highest dignity was the Palatine , the title of Count Palatine , the salutation well-born , the perpetual court right at the Viennese imperial court and the right to hold courtiers of his own . Thereupon De Petersen's great cousin Pieter de Graeff wrote a pamphlet on the older genealogy of his family.

De Petersen owned the De Heiligenberg manor in the glory of Asschat ( Leusden ), where he spent the summers. He spent the winters in the Janskerkhof in Utrecht. Jakob De Petersen was the biggest supporter of the construction of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amersfoort .
