Irina Vladimirovna Kirillova

Irina Vladimirovna Kirillowa ( Russian Ирина Владимировна Кириллова , formerly Irina Parchomchuk ( Ирина Пархомчук ); born May 15, 1965 in Tula ) is a Russian volleyball player .

Life

Irina Kirillowa is considered the outstanding setter of the 1980s and 1990s. She became known for her feints and backfield attacks with Irina Smirnova, which were unusual at the time, as well as her unpredictable, fast-paced style.

Kirillowa won the gold medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and gold at the 1990 World Championships in Beijing , where she was voted the most valuable player. She also won gold at the 1985 European Championships in the Netherlands.

In the mid-1990s, she moved to the Croatian national team , at the world championships, the Croatian team reached fourth place.

In the Italian league, Kirillova won all national titles between 1996 and 2003. Since then she has been assistant trainer and interpreter for the Italian coach of the Russian national team.

In 2009 she became Russian champion with VK Dynamo Moscow and second in the volleyball Champions League . Due to her impressive performance, she was voted the best setter in the league at the age of 44.

In 2009/10 Irina Kirillowa played in Italy for Asystel Novara .
