Iris Chacón Tapia (born March 7, 1950 in Santurce ) is a Puerto Rican dancer, singer and entertainer.

Chacón began her career in the mid-1960s in programs by Sylvia de Grasse at the television station Telemundo . From 1969 she worked as a dancer and singer with Elín Ortiz , with whom she was married until 1975. In 1970 both received a daily broadcast on Telecadena Pérez Perry . In the same year Chacón made his debut with the LP Tú no eres hombre on the Hit Parade label. The song Rey de amores from this LP became her first radio hit. Popular titles like Caramelo y chocolate , Mi movimiento and Me gusta, me gusta followed . At the Festival de la Canción in Buenos Aires she sang Ferdinando Magallanes ' Vivir por la aventura de vivir .

From 1973 to the 1980s she had a weekly Saturday show on Wapa Televisión , El show de Iris Chacón . In addition, she released other LPs with hits such as Te vas y qué , Yo te nombro, Libertad , El manicero , Tu boquita and El tren de seis . The recognition of the critics she won with shows they 1972 in Club Caribe of the Hotel Caribe Hilton produced. She was also successful abroad. In Venezuela she was nicknamed La Bomba Puertorriqueña , and in Mexico she performed her shows in the capital's nightclubs.

As an actress, Chacón has appeared in several television series, including Yo sé que mentía (1982) and Tanairí (1985, with Charytín Goyco and Andrés García ). In the US, she has appeared on talk shows such as The Morning Show , the Late Show with David Letterman, and the Merv Griffin Show . From 1998 she produced the radio program Iris Chacón Live in Orlando on the topics of health, nutrition and fitness. At Nickelodeon, she appeared in the children's series Gullah Gullah Island .
