Iris Elezi
Iris Elezi (born December 29, 1976 ) is an Albanian film director , screenwriter and university lecturer .
Life
Iris Elezi studied film theory and criticism, anthropology and women's studies. After completing her film production studies at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University , she returned to Albania in 2001 .
She teaches film history and film analysis at the Academy of Film and Multimedia Marubi in Tirana . Elezi is the director of the national film archive of Albania, Arkivi Qëndror Shtetëror i Filmit . Together with her partner Thomas Logoreci and the archivist Regina Longo, she founded The Albanian Cinema Project , an initiative that works to strengthen and preserve awareness of old Albanian films.
She has received numerous awards for her filmmaking, including 2014 for the feature film Bota at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival . For the Crossing Europe Film Festival 2019 she curated current and historical Albanian films for the Spotlight program section .
Iris Elezi lives and works in Tirana.
