Iris Robinson

Iris Robinson (born Collins; born September 6, 1949 in Belfast ) is a Northern Irish politician . She is a member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and was a member of the House of Commons for Strangford constituency until 2010 . She is married to Peter Robinson , First Minister of the Northern Ireland Assembly .

Life

Robinson graduated from a technical college in southeast Belfast and then worked as a private secretary. In 1992 she became the first female mayor of Castlereagh , in 1998 she was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly and in 2001 a member of the House of Commons. An affair that became known in January 2010 with a then 19-year-old and corruption allegations led u. a. to the temporary suspension of your husband's offices. She herself was expelled from the DUP on January 9, 2010 and resigned from all offices on January 13, 2010.

She has been married to Peter Robinson since 1970, with whom she has three children.
