Iris von Bredow

Iris von Bredow (born February 28, 1948 in Hanover ; † October 15, 2018 ) was a German ancient historian , translator and novelist.

Iris von Bredow studied Ancient History and Classical Philology in Sofia . After her doctorate and habilitation in hittology , she worked for many years at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and at the University of Sofia . From 1995 she worked as an employee at the Volkshochschule Ludwigsburg. She also worked as a private lecturer at the Universities of Stuttgart , Frankfurt am Main and Heidelberg and as a translator. In 2007 she published a historical novel "Die zierliche Rhodope" .
