Irma Katz

Irma Katz (* 1888 ; † 1933 ) was an Austrian portrait painter .

life and work

Irma Katz studied with Karl Karger at the Vienna School of Applied Arts and with Ferdinand Schmutzer and created numerous representative portraits . In a contemporary article from 1931 she was referred to as "one of the most sought-after portraitists in Vienna", whose portraits are "not just works of art worth appreciating", but "real portraits that breathe life, reflect life and personality".

Katz exhibited in 1925 at the 46th annual exhibition in the Vienna Künstlerhaus . One of her portraits is exhibited today in the Museum of Military History in Vienna.
