Irmela Hofmann

Irmela Felicitas Anna Magdalena Hofmann , née Irmela Eberlein (born August 24, 1924 in Kupferberg / Hirschberg , † August 23, 2003 in Erbach ) was a German pastor and author .

Life

Irmela Felicitas Anna Magdalena Eberlein was born as the third of ten children. Her parents were the pastor Hellmuth Eberlein (1890–1957) and Hildegard, geb. Thiel (1899-1964).

After escaping in World War II , she lived with her family in Lorch (Württemberg) and married Horst-Klaus Hofmann on August 24, 1952 . Irmela and Horst-Klaus Hofmann had five children.

In 1948 she co-founded the Irenenring , an evangelical lay community for single women. After the marriage, she and her husband got involved in Christian youth work. In 1968 she and her husband founded the extended families of the Young Christians Offensive in Bensheim .

Honors

In 1989, Irmela Hofmann was awarded the Traugott Bender Prize by the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Lothar Späth, for her life's work and “exemplary work based on Christian freedom and responsibility in society and politics” .

Foundation, endowment

On August 24, 2004, the OJCOS Foundation was founded on the occasion of Irmela Hofmann's 80th birthday and the first anniversary of her death .
