Irmgard Pinn

Irmgard Pinn (born 1946 ) is a German sociologist . She lives in Aachen . She has written various publications on the history of sociology , in particular sociology under National Socialism , as well as on the image of Muslim women in European discourse. Pinn is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Duisburg Institute for Language and Social Research (DISS).

Pinn converted to Islam in 1981 . She is a member of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany . In 2013 she spoke as a guest speaker at the Iranian Embassy in Germany about the situation of women in Iran. There she claimed, among other things, that the emancipation of Iranian women is more advanced than that of Western women. The journalist Jörg Lau accused her of having presented an “absurd litany of justification for the oppression of women”.
