Irmtraud Engeldinger

Irmtraud Engeldinger (born July 20, 1949 in Merzig ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

After elementary school, Engeldinger attended household school and trained as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk. At the evening grammar school in Dillingen , she then passed her Abitur examination on the second educational path . Then she worked as a wholesale clerk and as a housewife. She was also an honorary judge at the Saarbrücken regional court .

Engeldinger is a member of the SPD and is involved in the working group of social democratic women . From 1990 to 2004 she was a member of the Saarland state parliament , and from 1999 to 2004 she was mayor of her hometown Schwemlingen . In the election of the Federal President in 1999 , she was the substitute delegate of the state parliament and took part in the Federal Assembly in place of the football player Stefan Kuntz who was unable to attend . She was also a substitute member in the following presidential election , but was not used. In 2004 Engeldinger resigned from her political office.

Engeldinger is a member of the workers' welfare organization and was a member of the trade union trade, banks and insurance companies (today ver.di ). She is the chairwoman of the Saargau Tourist Trade Association. Engeldinger is married and has two children.
