Irna Phillips

Irna Phillips (born July 1, 1901 in Chicago , † December 23, 1973 ) was an American screenwriter , teacher and actress .

Life

Phillips studied acting at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison . Since she did not receive any commissions as an actress in the 1920s, she initially worked as a teacher in Dayton from 1925 to 1930 . In the 1930's she created the radio soap show Painted Dreams , which was broadcast on the WGN radio station in Chicago. She also created the radio show Woman in White in the 1920s . From 1937, the radio show Springfield Story , which Philips had invented, appeared. With Ken Corday , Ted Corday and Betty Cordayshe invented the television series Zeit der Sehnsucht , which has been broadcast on the US television channel CBS since 1965 . The series takes place in the fictional city of Salem. Irna Philips is also the creator and screenwriter of the soap opera Young and Passionate - How Life Works , which was broadcast on CBS from 1956 to 2010. Philips was married and had two children.
