Ernak

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ernak (Greek: Ήρνάχ, "Hernach"; also Irnik , Old Bulgarian: Ирникъ) was one of the sons of Attila, king of the Huns . After his death in 453, his sons tried to preserve the loosely built Huns' empire in the Danube region , but failed (defeat in the Battle of Nedao 454/55). Ernak and his brother Dengizich tried to get contractual arrangements with Ostrom , but Emperor Leo I rejected them. From then on Ernak no longer played a role politically, while Dengizich soon fell in the fight against Eastern Roman troops.

The Bulgarian prince list According Irnik was reportedly the second oldest king of the Bulgarians after Awitochol ( Avitichol ). Some researchers equate Avitochol with Attila.

In 2006, the Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named Irnik Point in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands after Irnik.
