The Iroquois Reservoir on the St. Lawrence River is dammed by the Iroquois Control Dam at Iroquois , Ontario and Waddington , New York and regulates the water level of Lake Ontario above and Lake St. Lawrence below .
The dam , built in 1958 (a combination of gravity dam and earth / stone rubble dam ) is 23 m high and 812 m long. At the dam there are locks for shipping on the St. Lawrence Seaway , as well as a visitor center and souvenir shops. The storage space of the reservoir is given as 30,000 million cubic meters. It is one of the largest on earth. The operators are jointly the Ontario Power Generation (Canada) and the New York Power Authority (USA). The coordinates given relate to the dam.
