Waddington is an English town in the county of Lincolnshire . The village is located about 6 km south of Lincoln in the North Kesteven district and has 6,086 inhabitants (as of 2001). The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as early as 1086 .

In modern times, the place is mainly known because of the Royal Air Force base that has been in operation since 1916 . British atomic bombers of the V-bomber fleet were stationed in Waddington during the Cold War . To this day, Waddington is an important military airfield of the Royal Air Force.
