Irving Langmuir Award
The Irving Langmuir Award is an award in physical chemistry and chemical physics awarded annually alternately by the American Chemical Society (even years) and the American Physical Society (odd years) . It is named after Irving Langmuir . The laureate should have made outstanding contributions in this area over the past ten years. He should be based in the United States. The award was donated in 1931 by AC Langmuir, Irving Langmuir's brother, originally to honor the best young chemist in the USA. General Electric later took on financing the award. It is currently endowed with US $ 10,000 (2012).
