Coordinates: 29 ° 15 ′ S , 114 ° 56 ′ E The Shire of Irwin is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 2,374 km² and has around 3550 inhabitants (2016).
Irwin is located on the Australian west coast at the mouth of the Irwin River about 310 kilometers north of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the city of Dongara , where about 2,750 inhabitants live (2016).

The Irwin Council has eight members. They are elected by all residents of the Shire. Irwin is not divided into districts. The chairman of the council (Shire President) is also recruited from among the councilors.
