Is Survived By is the third studio album by the US post-hardcore band Touché Amoré . The album was released on September 24, 2013 on the Deathwish label.

Background and style

The lyrics on Is Survived By are more positive than on the band's two previous albums. This is mainly due to the fact that songwriter Jeremy Bolm is concentrating more on the good side of life. Central to the album was the thought of what is left of a person when he dies.

In line with the text, the music has become more melodic, more positive and the songs longer.

Jeremy Bolm justified this change compared to the previous albums as follows:

“A lot of people think the second album is always the hardest, but especially as a hardcore band, the third is much more difficult. The second is just proving to yourself that you can hold people's attention. With the third you have to keep their attention, but change the means of doing so so that you don't do the same thing again. You can no longer play it safe. "

Is Survived By was received mostly positively. Metacritic calculated an average rating of 87 out of 100 possible points from a base of 15 criticisms, which corresponds to "Universal Acclaim" (German: all-round praise).

Is Survived By was included in the music magazine Visions for subscribers in September 2013 . The album was also album of the month for October 2013. In the end-of-year rating, it reached number 2 for editors and number 4 for readers.
