Isaac Leet

Isaac Leet (* 1801 near Washington , Pennsylvania , †  June 10, 1844 there ) was an American politician . Between 1839 and 1841 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Isaac Leet attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1822 the Washington College there . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1826, he began to work in this profession in his home town of Washington. Between 1826 and 1830 Leet was a chamberlain in Washington County ; from 1830 to 1834 he acted there as deputy public prosecutor. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . From 1834 to 1838 he was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate .

In the 1838 congressional election , Leet was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 21st  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Thomas McKennan on March 4, 1839 . Since he was not confirmed in 1840, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1841 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Leet no longer appeared politically. He died in Washington on June 10, 1844.
