Isaac Wahl (* 1915 in the Russian Empire ; † January 2004 ) was an Israeli professor of plant pathology at Tel Aviv University . His botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is " I. Wahl ".

Wahl grew up in Warsaw and went to Palestine in 1935 , where he studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a master's degree in 1940 and a doctorate in 1947. He was initially a professor at the Department of Agricultural Science at the Hebrew University and later at Tel Aviv University. He dealt with plant diseases in a broader ecological context. In particular, he examined the types of grain (barley, oats, wheat) and their wild plant precursors and the pests and diseases that occur there (such as rust fungi ), which are similar to those of cultivated plants, but cause less damage in the wild form. The investigations were facilitated by the fact that Palestine belonged to the area of origin of these cultivated plants. He used his findings in the breeding of resistant varieties and in recommendations for cultivation.

He headed the Institute for Cereal Crops Improvement at Tel Aviv University, which was founded in 1982.

In 1964 he received the Rothschild Prize and in 1979 the Harvey Prize .
