from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isaak Oskarowitsch Lipnitzky (born June 25, 1923 in Kiev ; † March 25, 1959 there ) was a Ukrainian - Soviet chess master and author.

Life

Issak Lipnitzky was born in Kiev in 1923 as the son of Oscar Lipnitzky and his wife Sima. During his youth he was a member of the Kiev youth chess club, as was Dawid Bronstein, who was a year younger . An early part of the two can be found in Bronstein's book "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". During the Second World War, Lipnitzky fought in Stalingrad. This meant an interruption of almost all chess activities. Lipnitzky recorded his first significant successes by winning the Ukrainian championship in 1949 and tied for 2nd to 4th place at the Soviet championship in 1950. Lipnitzky died in 1959 at the age of 35 of polycythemia , a disease in which too many solid blood components are formed.

Sporting successes

  • Shared 2nd – 4th Place, Soviet championship, 1950
  • Ukrainian champion in 1949 and 1956
  • Winning the Soviet club championship in 1954 with Spartak

Due to the restrictive Soviet travel regulations, Lipnitzky was never able to take part in international tournaments, but in individual games he defeated world-class players several times, including the later world champions Vasily Smyslow and Tigran Petrosyan

Publications

Lipnitzky is the author of the book Questions of Modern Chess Theory , which posthumously became a classic of the Soviet chess school .
