Isabell van Ackeren

Isabell van Ackeren (* 1974 in Duisburg ) is a German educational scientist and professor for education system and school development research at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

After graduating from high school in Duisburg-Huckingen , she studied biology, German studies and educational science at the then University of Essen from 1994 to 1999, where she also passed the first state examination for teaching at secondary levels I and II. After research stays in England, France and the Netherlands, she was in Essen in 2003 on the subject of “Use of large-scale tests for school development. Experiences from England, France and the Netherlands ” . She then worked until 2007 as a research assistant and assistant at the educational research and planning working group in Essen. In 2006 she was appointed professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , where she a. a. until 2009 was the spokesperson for the “Center for Education and University Research ” there. Since 2009 van Ackeren has been full professor for education system and school development research at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). In 2012 she turned down a call to the University of Cologne . She has been Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching at the UDE since 2014 .

Van Ackeren was or is a member of numerous specialist societies and expert commissions as well as co-editor of several specialist journals.
