Isabelle Berro

Isabelle Berro (born October 24, 1965 in Monaco ; formerly Isabelle Berro-Lefèvre ) is a Monegasque lawyer .

Berro-Lefèvre studied law from 1984 to 1987 at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis . She then continued her legal training at the École nationale de la magistrature in Paris until 1989 . She completed her internship at the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Carcassonne .

In October 1989 she took up a position as a legal clerk at the Direction des Services Judiciaires , which is responsible for the administration of the Monegasque judiciary. In this role, she organized the reorganization of the Monaco Prison Inspectorate, which was transferred from the Ministry of the Interior to the Direction des Services Judiciaires, and was responsible for enacting a law on the penal system.

From December 1990 she worked as a judge at the Court of First Instance of Monaco. There she took over the office of "Premier Juge" in January 2000. She has worked at the European Court of Human Rights since 2006 . She is the first judge Monaco has sent to the court. On November 1, 2012, she was given the presidency of the first section.

She is a member of the Advisory Board of European Judges . In 2005 she was awarded the Order of St. Charles ("Knight" class).
