Isao Nakauchi

Isao Nakauchi (born August 2, 1922 in Kobe , Japan , † September 19, 2005 ibid) was a Japanese entrepreneur and philanthropist .

Life

Nakauchi founded the Shufu no Mise Daiei in Osaka in 1957 . In the USA in the early 1960s he saw the development potential of large supermarkets and sold his company shares in Shufu no Mise Daiei . He also sold his shares in Volks Inc. , a steak house operator, and various properties . He then founded the Daiei , with which he became the king of Japanese retail .

Isao Nakauchi was the founder and long-time boss of the Daiei. After retiring from his daily corporate engagement in 2001, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nakauchi Gakuen Education Foundation , which among other things founded the Kobe Gakuin University . Until his death he had obtained a contractual guarantee that he would continue to represent the Daiei .

With the pioneer of management theory , Harvard professor Peter Ferdinand Drucker (1909-2005) from Austria , Nakauchi wrote two books on the peculiarities of the Japanese and Asian economies and the global economic challenges posed by the Asian economy.

Forbes leads the Daiei in the Forbes International 2000 at number 546 (2005). Nakauchi himself was ranked 75th among the richest people in the world on Forbes in 2000.

Isao Nakauchi died of a heart attack . He left a wife, two sons and a daughter.
