As a great sympathizer and partisan of the Duke of Savoy , he became the main character of the Daux conspiracy , which was to take back the rule of Vaud and bring the city back to the Duchy. When the planned coup did not succeed, Daux fled to Évian-les-Bains , where he successfully went into hiding.
