Isidore Barbarin

Isidore John Barbarin (born September 24, 1872 in New Orleans ; † June 12, 1960 ibid) was an American cornetist and alto horn player of New Orleans jazz .

Barbarin began to play cornet when she was fifteen. He was in the Onward Brass Band , the Excelsior Brass Band and the Tuxedo Brass Band of Papa Celestin . His main occupation was a horse-drawn carriage.

He made his first recording in 1945 with a band under the direction of Bunk Johnson ( Bunk's Brass Band , he played alto horn there, recorded in George Lewis' house ) and in 1946 he recorded with the Original Zenith Brass Band (as a mellophone player) .

His four sons were also musicians: the drummers Paul Barbarin , Louis Barbarin and Lucien Barbarin (1905–1960) and the cornetist William Barbarin (1907–1973).
