Isidoro Diéguez Dueñas

Isidoro Diéguez Dueñas (born January 12, 1909 , † January 21, 1942 ) was a Spanish communist , fighter in the Spanish Civil War and in the resistance against the Franco regime .

Diéguez, a bricklayer by profession, became a member of the Communist Party of Spain ( Partido Comunista de España , PCE) in 1932 . During the Spanish Civil War he was secretary of the PCE in Madrid. In 1936 he became a member of the Junta de Defensa de Madrid . In 1937 he became a member of the Central Committee and in 1938 a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the PCE. In March 1939 Diéguez led with others the armed struggle against Colonel Segismundo Casado's coup against the Negrín government . Diéguez emigrated in 1939, but returned illegally to Spain in 1942 to reorganize the Communist Party underground. He was arrested by the Franquists and shot on January 21, 1942.
