Isla , also known as Clockserrie , was a whiskey distillery in Perth , Perth and Kinross , Scotland . The brandy produced was therefore assigned to the Highlands whiskey region . The distillery is not to be confused with the Strathisla distillery .
history
The distillery was founded in 1851 by Alexander Forbes under the name Clockserrie . For this purpose, an existing brewery was converted. The company was family owned until 1920 when it was taken over by the Tay Distillers Co. When it filed for bankruptcy in 1923, the Distillers Company Ltd. ( DCL ) and finally closed it in 1926. It is not known exactly when the distillery was renamed from Clockserrie to Isla .
When Alfred Barnard visited the distillery on his major whiskey tour in 1886, it had an annual production capacity of 30,000 gallons . There were three stills , a 700-gallon border rough blister ( wash still ) and two 600 and 350-gallon fine blisters ( spirit stills ) are available.
