The Islandadd Bridge is a cast iron bridge across the mouth of the Add River into the Jura Sound . It leads to the secondary road B8025, which begins in the small settlement of Bellanoch 200 m south of the bridge and ends in a north-easterly direction near Kilmartin at a junction with the A816. It is considered to be the largest and most architecturally significant bridge of this type in Scotland .

The Islandadd Bridge was completed in 1851. As an architect, John Gardner was responsible for the planning. In 1989 the Islandadd Bridge was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest category A. Due to its location in the middle of the very sparsely populated region of Knapdale and the proximity of the A816, the bridge is of little importance for traffic.

description

The bridge consists of five segments, which are supported by four pillars made of ashlar. The lower chord is simply designed and provided with cross struts. Possibly it was only attached afterwards for stabilization. Slender cast-iron railings run along the roadway on both sides. They show stylized, elongated arcade patterns and each bridge the distance between two bridge piers. The Islandadd Bridge is only passable in one lane.
