Bellanoch is a small town in the Scottish council area Argyll and Bute . It is located on the northern edge of the sparsely populated Knapdale region, about seven kilometers northwest of Lochgilphead and 36 kilometers south of Oban . The Crinan Canal runs through Bellanoch and flows into the Jura Sound a few kilometers to the northwest at Crinan . In 1991 Bellanoch had 100 inhabitants.

Sights and surroundings

There is a jetty in a basin of the Crinan Canal near Bellanoch. A monument from the highest Scottish monument category A can be found at Bellanoch. This is a road bridge on which the B8025 crosses the mouth of the Add River on its way from Bellanoch to Kilmartin . The Islandadd Bridge is a girder bridge that was built in 1851 to designs by the architect John Gardner .
