The Islote Cañas is a small island off the west coast of Trinity Peninsula in the north of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the easternmost of a group of three small islands and is 175 m north of Bulnes Island and 3 km northwest of Cape Legoupil .
Participants of the 2nd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1947–1948) mapped and named them. It is named after the Chilean general Ramón Cañas Montalva (1896–1977), who accompanied Chilean President Gabriel González Videla on his Antarctic voyage in 1948.
