The Islote Thornton ( Spanish ) is an island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located off the northeast end of the Marian Cove of King George Island .
Chilean scientists named her after Lieutenant George Thornton M., hydrograph on the Yelcho on the 25th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1970–1971).
